3D to 2D: "Dreams"

This image represents the importance of dreams. The background is filled with numerous chairs with the tag "Empty", and the chairs are covered in a light blue tone to evoke sadness and the constant struggles of life. Overlapping the chairs is a radial pattern of bright red bags with the tag "Dreams". These bags represent the dreams we have, and these dreams are brighter and bolder than any sadness that we may feel. The radial focal point also has black and white flowers with the tag "Rain". These flowers represent the rain and sadness that is inevitable, but the dreams are still brighter, bigger, and more powerful. In the very center of the image, a bright question mark evokes the audience to decide what they feel about the relationship between sadness at dreams.

Touch: Pain

"Pain has plagued us throughout the history of our species. We spend our lives trying to avoid it, and, from one point of view, what we call "happiness" may be just the absence of pain... And we also talk about emotional distress as pain. Pains are often combined, the emotional with the physical, and the physical with the physical..." - Diane Ackerman ... I decided to simulate the layers of skin through the use of layers of tracing paper. I wanted to focus on the inevitable feelings of pain over time, focusing on both physical rehabilitation of the skin and emotional pain stemming from the deepest layer. I started on the deepest layer of skin, drawing a beautiful flower filled with life and strength in order to represent our bodies/skin in an ideal, pain-free world. Fluxus Box

Fluxus Box based off of the movie "Les Miserables" (2012). Materials: Plywood, Balsa wood, wood glue, nails, flowers, towel cloth, Rit fabric dye, string, paper, Walnut Ink set(Java, Terra Cotta, and Walnut), Micron pens, red and black acrylic paint, twine. 15"x10". Artist Statement: The fluxus box attempts to provide a narrative based off of the movie "Les Miserables" (2012). The exterior of the box is made from plywood and a distress stain made from a mixture of ink and water. The box is not sanded, and it has exposed seams and nails, along with chunks of glue and imperfections. The box is meant to be rough due to the war that occurs, but it is also uniform and seems like an old, distressed box, similar to one from the French Revolution. When the box opens, the black underside of the lid reveals four triangular sections which intersect in the middle. The triangles represent the love triangle in the story along with the intersecting storylines and genera
